Brief Description:  More Rudder Work

Passed the "100 hour Mark" of building time today. I found the 3/8" bolt I needed to start assembling the rudder understructure. I had to fabricate a shim and 2 rudder bottom attachment plates from stock provided in the kit and modified the rudder brace per the plans. Next I fluted the ribs so they would be straight. The tip rib took a lot of adjustment because it was long and skinny and needed a lot of tweaking to get it straight so the holes would align with the holes in the skin. After that I cleco'd the rudder skeleton together and cleco'd the skin (every other hole). Then Pop and I match-drilled the holes, moved the clecos to every other hole and match drilled those. Flipped the rudder over and repeated the process for the other side. Then I made the 2 rudder bottom attachment strips, clamped them in place and drilled them to match the skin and rib holes. Finally I disassembled the entire rudder and deburred all of the holes (inside and out). Next session will start with dimpling the skin, spar and ribs.
