Brief Description:  Temporary Wheels for the Fuselage

When the fuselage and wings arrived it really crowded the shop. I had the fuselage mounted on carpet padded saw horses but it was too heavy and cumberson to move every time I needed to work on something on that side of the shop. I decided to mount temporary wheels so that I could roll it to the other side of the shop or even open the sliding doors and roll it outside if necessary.

The fuselage came with plywood pieces bolted into the wing spar slots of the fuselage. I decided to run a piece of 2x4 vertically from both of those pieces and then run another 2x4 horizontally between them as an axle support. Bought a 5/8" steel rod for the axle and ordered 2 pneumatic handtruck wheels (5/8" axle diameter). Cut a slot 5/8" wide and deep in the horizontal 2x4 and secured the axle in the slot using banding strap. Attached the wheels to the axle and it rolls very easily around the shop. The tail is very light so I just bolted a vertical 2x4 to holes that already existed in the tail section. Thanks Pop!
