Brief Description:  Right Aileron Mistake

I just returned from a 2 wk vacation. I got to fly with my brother-in-law and am now infused with motivation to press on with my little ship.

Unfortunately, I had laid out all the required cuts on the aileron skin (right) prior to vacation. When I came back I couldn't make sense out of my cut lines- they didn't seem right. So, out came the MEK and they all disappeared. I "re-layed" (is that a word?) all cut lines -these seemed to make sense to me. Then I cut. I had that funny feeling where something just dosen't feel right. You can see by the pictures that I made a massive error. It was correct the first time and now it all made sense. Too late for this skin; $80.00 to replace but I'm afraid the shipping will be another $40 or $50. Good think I have the left skin to start all over with.

I remember reading from the email group how someone said that you could knock off an aileron in a couple of hours. Me thinketh that is a gross underestimation. You really have to pay attention to the drawings as these skins have an unusual shape at the outboard edge.

I did complete and cut the other skin; correctly this time.
