Brief Description: Square up horizontal stabilizer
First thing I did today was grind off 1/8" of the inboard of the horizontal stab aft tube on both right and left stabs. Actual it worked well to just grind a matching angle to the aft mount which resulted in moving the stab inboard 1/8" on each side. That resulted in the distance between the leading edge tubes to be 12.75 inches and the aft 3.0 inches per the plans.
After thinking about it since yesterday I came up with a plan to square up the horizontal stab. I hung several plumb bobs from the center line of the fuselage and drew a line on the floor down centerline. Then using a level I made a mark on the floor that was plumb below the inboard of the aft of the stab. Then I drew a line full length of the aft of the stab on the floor that was square off the centerline using that mark as a reference. Then I just had to plumb up from that line to the outboard end of the right and left stab to square up. With the stab level and square I drilled the hole for a 3/16" bolt on the inboard side of the horizontal stab leading edge tube and secured with a bolt.
I decided not to drill out the hole for the bottom tail wire attach points for now. I may still drill these out later but I want to follow up more. For now I just made a couple bushing out of 1/4 x .028 and used a 3/16" bolt to secure to the bottom attach point. I bent the lower tail wire attach bracket back to the correct angle and attached the bottom tail wire to the horizontal stab.
