Brief Description:  Mount horizonal stab

I welded the front stab brackets on. Then I made the stab front mount tube with bushings to line up with stab brackets. Then I back drilled the front mount tube to the bracket then bolted on. I made the .125 tail wire links for the upper tail wires.

While thinking about the bottom tail wire I realized that the lower tail wire attach points are drilled out to 3/16" per the plans but the clevis pin is 1/4". I'm guessing that the hole should be drilled out to 1/4" but I'm now wondering if there was a reason the plans show 3/16"? I'll wait for an answer before I drill it out. Also the material for this attach point is .100 when the material for the tail wire links is .125 so I'm not sure why the difference? Also I notice the angle of the attach tabs doesn't angle quite correct to line up with the stab attach point even though it matches the plans.

The other issue I bumped into today is with the horizontal stabilizers hanging on the attach tubes mine are ¼” further apart from the opposite side than the plans show. Per the plans the front should have a separation on the front tubes of 12.75 inches (I have 13 inches when hanging on the attach tubes when I square the stab to center line) and the back should have 3 inches (I have 3.25 inches). It would be an easy fix to sand or grind the back tubes at an angle to accommodate the angle of the rear attach bracket. All that is needed is to sand the forward portion of the rear horizontal stabilizer tube off by 1/8” on each side. I haven't drilled the horizontal stab forward tubes to the stab front mount tubes yet which is my next step. Attaching the front horizontal stab to the mount tube is not covered in the manual or CD but it seems like a critical point to keep things square. I'll work on a way set that tomarrow.
