I was planning to work outside all day but some storms rolled through keeping me inside for a while so I was able to get some Bearhawk time in.
I've been thinking about how to best form the leading edge of the vertical stabilizer and decided to make a cardboard form to fallow. So I laid out shape on the cardboard to match the plans then it was just cut then fit, and then trim a little at a time until it looked right. Then I laid out the form on the bending table and formed theT8 tube to match.
Next I welded the T6 tube above the rear horizontal stab mount and then the two diagonal T3 tubes to the tail post. Following Bill Johnsons good advice I clamped a length of 1" square tubing to the tail post to keep it from bending during welding. After tacking the top and the bottom of the T3 tubes I finished welding the bottom then cut the tack at the top to relieve any stress then tacked again and finish welded.
That might be it for this week because I have a lot to get done outside on the "farm" and the weather is supposed to be good for the rest of the week - but I'll be wishing for rain :-)
