Brief Description:  Rudder

First thing I did was make the rudder horn. The rudder horn had an engineering change in Oct 2007 that reverted back to the original rudder horn. There was a engineering change in July 2003 that shortened it to increase rudder pressure. It was subsequently decided that the original rudder horn was easier to steer on the ground and with the shorter rudder horn the peddle assembly may be damaged with full rudder deflection. My plans # 733 have the full scale drawing of the shorter rudder horn. I don't have a full scale drawing for the longer rudder horn but it wasn't too difficult to come up with what would be appropriate. The key is to move the cable attach holes out to 3-1/4".

I made and welded the .090 washer to the rudder horn. I then welded the rudder horn to its 1" tube. I slid the hinges and rudder horn onto the 7/8" tube and router cut some more groves in the table to accommodate the rudder horn.

There are only 4 T-25 ribs for the rudder but each one is unique so I had to make a forming block for each one. I cut, formed and fit the ribs. I just need to add the T1 tubing then the rudder is ready for cleaning and welding.
