I put the hinges on a long piece of 7/8" tubing to locate the bottom hole for drilling. That way I could verify with a level that the tubes were exactly level to each other before drilling the bottom hole. After the bottom hole was drilled I trimmed the straps to their final length. Next I made the "V" supports for the hinges.
