Well I didn't get any replys from the group other than the simular part was the rudder horn. After looking at some pictures of other builders that show the weld going all the way around the washer I called Bob with this question and his answer is that it is not welded all the way around but about half way around. In other words from top to the bottom around the outside edge making sure that the weld goes past the edge about 1/8” onto the other piece. He also said it is not a load carrying point. The wing pushes back and inward toward the fitting. So the load put on the rudder horn is not the same kind of load on the rear wing attach fitting. For anyone that did weld all the way around my impression was that if you do weld all the way around it’s not an issue.
