I made the short strap pieces and mounted them. Then I bolted the long strap to the spar. With the tank in position I ran the top strap around and marked each one 1" from the short strap. That's where I made the bend for the tension hardware. I put the rubber channel of the straps and mounted the fuel tank again. When I secured the tension straps tight there was very little clearance between the rods. I had made the straps too long.
