Brief Description:  Right wing panel #2 and #1

Well I took panel #2 off to pre-drill the rest of it when I realized I didn't mark the nose ribs. So I had to put it back on to mark them. I could have sworn I marked it yesterday but apparently not. I marked to bottom of the nose ribs and pre-drilled and trimmed the edge that is the bottom of the overlay.

I put the panel back on and drill and clecoed it to the wing then I put panel #3 on to drill the overlay. This panel I pre-drilled the overlay correctly so I had Andrea help me with the back drilling. I drilled the double row overlay then removed panel #3 and trimmed the remaining side. Panel #4 and #3 now have both sides trimmed and deburred and panel #2 has the side that is the bottom of the next overlay trimmed and deburred.

There are a couple things I'm doing different with these panels as compared to the other wing. I'm measuring from center line to center line between the ribs and using that take off to mark the panels for pre-drilling. This is working a lot better than just making a center line between the rib marks. The lines are lining up a lot better for drilling the panels to the ribs. Also for trimming the panel edges I'm cutting to 1/16" of the line with snips then using an orbital sander to "file" down to the line. Then I'm using a die grinder with a deburring wheel to deburr the edge. This is working a lot better than what I had been doing before. I tried using a belt sander like John Rheney did but it seemed to produce a lot of heat so I stuck with the orbital sander - it doesn’t produce any heat.

I started working with panel #1. I shimmed the MDF rib forms into the fuel tank area and straped the panel on. That's as far as I got today.
