Brief Description: Deburred more skins, fuel filler neck cutout
I continued the exciting task of deburring skins. I reached the point where I needed to make the hole in the skin for the main fuel tank filler neck.
To locate the cut out I made a 1-3/4" plywood plug with a nail though the center to put in the fuel tank neck. Then I clecoed the rear of the skin (top side). With the skin positioned over the top of the tank I taped the skin with a small dead blow hammer that left a center mark in the location of the hole. Then I removed the skin and marked a 2" circle using the mark as the center.
To cut the 2" hole out I used a stepped Unibit to drill several holes side by side all the way around, then filed to the line using the tile file. I used a piece of 2" aluminum rod scrap to check the hole for fit. I test fit the skin back on the wing and the hole looks good.
I removed the fuel tank and deburred and dimpled the holes in the ribs that I couldn't get to with the tank in the way. I also made a skin stiffener for around the filler neck.
