Brief Description:  Trim bottom panel

I drilled the top skins at the aileron pocket ribs. Then I laid out the pocket ribs on the bottom skin. I used a small scrap piece of aluminum to follow the arc of the pocket rib to the intersecting point of the bottom skin. I'll add 1/2" to this location for the trim line. I realized that when I drilled the rear spar I didn't take into consideration for the pocket rib locations. It just so happens that I drilled into each rib flange with only one being just a little close to the flange bend. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good!

The last panel that need trimming is the bottom panel. I removed the panel and trimmed the flap and aileron lines. I took a page from John Rehney again and tried using an orbital sander to deburr the edge. (John actually used a belt sander.) The orbital sander worked great too.

I put the panel back on. With all panels on now I dilled any remaining holes that needed drilled. All panels are now trimmed and drilled.

The next item on my punch list is to cut and fit the landing light in the leading edge. As I studied it closer I began wondering if I located in the right position. I'm using a light designed for an RV10. It's a little tight between the nose ribs on the Bearhawk where the RV10 has more space between the ribs. I started wondering if maybe I should have located this in the outboard bay where there is a little more room. I also started to wonder if the skin is going to deform when I cut into it. Should I cut the hole with the skin on the wing or remove it first? After all these questions I decided to make a mock up of the leading edge and do a test cut. I just so happen to have a perfect scrap piece that was already formed for that location. I can also use the mock up to practice riveting skins.

I made 5 nose ribs using my forms and jigs. I'm making it authentic with lightening holes and all. Seems funny to be bending ribs again.
