Brief Description:  Riveting left top skin

"It has been part of the plan all along to have Andrea work with me riveting the skins on. Now that Jim and I have completed the hard part its time for Andrea to be part of the process. We've been practicing on the mock up and felt we were ready to work together on the real thing. I spent some time getting everything ready on the left wing top skin.

Some report back riveting as the preferred method so I decided to try back riveting the top skin to center ribs. Andrea held the bar against the skin while I used the offset back rivet shank to drive the shop head. Maybe its because I was so used to driving with the swivel head and bucking the shop head with the bar that I couldn't really get comfortable with the method. The results were fine but it seemed like more work. So we then worked with Andrea bucking and I was driving with the swivel head. That was going slow so we swapped out and Andrea did the driving and I did the bucking. We found that to be the best method that worked for us.

We started out slow and methodological. In fact we were going so slow that it took a couple hours to get a few rows set. At least the sets were looking real good. We did need to drill and reset 2 rivets. I was a little nervous with Andrea on the driver side but with the flush swivel rivet set she was doing a great job with no ""smilies"".

We started to get a better rhythm going when we decided to take a break. Well the break ended up being the stop for the day."
