Christmas brought a big distraction - Rock Band! I spent some time learning to play the drums and then “played gigs” and went on "tour" with the kids. Man that game is addictive! After 2 days I figured I better pull myself away and get some work done on the Bearhawk!
I dimpled the parts for one of the ailerons. I could get most of the holes with the pneumatic squeezers. For the rear ribs, the last hole I could not get the squeezers in the tight fitting. I used the dimple dies that are made to use with a pop rivet tool but instead of the supplied shank I just used a regular pop rivet and used just enough squeeze to set the dimple.
I didn't dimple the holes where the balance tube will go. I figure I better get the tube ready and drill those holes first. I should have done that before I took it all apart - now I have to put it back together again. I picket up some lead from the local tire shop a few days ago so I need to get that ready.
I trimmed the nose skin cutout on the other aileron. I found a similar issue with one of the nose ribs as the other one - it was off a little resulting in the holes too close to the edge. I used the same fix.
