Brief Description:  Flap nose skins

I decided to make some inprovenments on the brake. I took it apart and adjusted the hinge. When I screwed the hinge on the first time I didn't predrill holes for the sheet rock screws and the MDF was starting to split. I also alinded the hinge a little better so there was no interfiance. I had to shim the materal to clear the hinge before.

One other thing I did was cut a 30 degree edge on the bending brake side. I also provided a perminate suport to keep the foot from sliding back. The last thing I did was a put a strip of duct tape on the bed to prevent the metal sheet from sliping.

I bent the other flap nose skin after the inprovements. This one came out really well - in fact so well I decided to make anohter one. I reworked the layout on the .020 material I had and was able to allow enough for another flap nose skin.

A couple things I didn't like about my first nose skin was I made the bend at the nose too wide and I didn't like the fit. Also, for the curve at the top I tried to do it with the brake and it made a visable crease which I didn't like either. The two new nose skins fit just right. I put a little curve on the top of the skin using a little of the Eric Newton method (rolled broom handle) and a little of the John Rheney method (roll over vairous sised tubes.)
