Brief Description:  Rivet false spar doublers and nut plates

I finally have everything I need to complete the false spar doublers so I did that today. I drilled a countersink hole in the doubler and dimpled the spar. My first nutplate was ugly (smashed the shop head sideways) but by the second one I figured it out. I replaced the first one. I used pneumatic squeezers to set the rivets.

The next thing I did was make the cable retainers for the pulley at the strut.

I usually follow a plan of action but I got a wild hair and changed course out of the blue. I decided to start on the flaps. Maybe it's the heat but I felt like doing something different. Actually it's not completely without reason. I was getting ready to route the aileron cable and position the fairleads and the cable could interfere with the flap push rod if not located properly. Seems like having the flaps set up would be a good idea to verify location.

My 4' x 8' workbench is actually 2 tables so rather than screw around trying to make them level and flat I built an upper deck using the material from my spar table and shimming 2 x 4 flat an level then screwing a 4' x 8' sheet on top of that.

I got as far as cutting the flap spars to size and laying out the hinge and rib locations. One thing I ran into is that the rib locations are not dimensionally noted on the plans. The hinge locations are so the ribs next to them can be located but the others have to be located using a measured take off from the plans.
