Brief Description:  Flap drive, more jigging

The first thing I wanted to do was resolve the issue of the center rib attach angle at the root. I decided the correct and best way to fix this is too move the rib attach angle. So that's what I did. I actually made a new attach angle and moved it about 3/32" to allow more room. Everything fits well now except I did have to file down the torque tube hole in the center rib at the root just like I did on the left side.

It seemed like I was kind of chasing getting the flap drives lined up and working correctly so I took all the center ribs out in that area and just worked on the drives by themselves. This was the key and I finally got things to work right. One thing that helped is I hung the torque tube on each bearing by its self and set things so the tube centered on the other end with out force. I was really having a hard time with the left side binding so I unclamped the top (main spar side) of the flap support tube and it sprung out to the side. After I did that the torque tube moved freely. Forcing the support frame into position was causing the binding. So I heated and moved the support frame around until every thing lined up without force. That did the trick.

After I had both wing torque tubes moving freely I put the center ribs back into position. I did have to file a little more from one of the center rib torque tube holes because the weld still was not clearing completely. After I did that the torque tube moved freely again.

After I had the flap drive working just right I decided to recheck jig alignment before I drilled the holes in the spars for the flap drive. Things had moved a little bit so I worked with both sides for quite a while. It seemed like I'd get one wing set and I'd come back to the other and it moved. After awhile I decided I need to support the rear spar much better on both ends. I think I'll build some supports just like that are now attached to the main spars. I don't have any more steel angle so I'll have to get some more before I can continue.
