Brief Description:  Jig offset, flap drive

After spending all day yesterday working on the issue of wither or not to line up or offset the attach holes I'm ready to move on. I did decided to take the morning off and Andrea and I flew out to breakfast in the Chief.

I worked on fitting the flap drive on the left wing. My flap support on the root end is tight to the center spar. In fact the weld around the bearing is getting interference so I had to open up the previously drilled hole in the center rib. The other ribs were tight to the toque tube so required a little filing too. The grease fitting on the root support protrudes right where the center rib flange is so that also required a little trimming. I removed and refit everything several time and the torque tube is still not moving as freely as I'd like so I'll work on this some more.

I started working on the right side. I notice a problem right away. The center rib attach angle at the root is a little too close to the flap drive root support. I may need to make an ajustment.

My fuel tanks arrived from AviPro today. They look great! Excellent workmanship. I decided to buy the tanks for a couple different reasons. First I'm falling behind where I'd like to be with the project right now and this will help me catch up. Also, I don't have a means to weld the aluminum tanks so I figure by the time I buy the material and pay a shop to weld them I won't save much money. Makes perfect sense to me!
