Brief Description:  Jigging wings

I set the laser level up to level the right main spar from end to end. After I did this I realized the mounting bracket position does not account for the difference in the main spar ends. The root end sits 1/4" higher because of the end plate - so I shimmed the outboard end to level both ends. Then I put the center ribs into their proper location.

Next I assembled the left spar frame on the floor. With Andrea's help we lifted the frame into position on the jig. We leveled the main spar end to end and shimmed legs into place under the support frames. Andrea put the center ribs into position.

Using the method in Eric's manual I used a plumb bob to locate and clamp the rear spar attach hole directly in line with the main spar attach hole. Using a level with a 1 1/2" block to the rear spar does not show level. I lined up the rear spar from end to end. I spent a lot of time leveling and lining up everything. including doing some math after reviewing the plans Something does not seem right. It seems like the whole frame has a twist. The main spar is not sitting level on the vertical axes.

I decided to take a look at Erbmans CD and he shows the wing attach holes are offset in the vertical axes. That is indicative of what I'm seeing in the jig. I pulled out the plans and it looks to support Erbman's method. Now I'm confused so I'll need to go to the eGroup before I proceed.
