Well, enough screwing around and time to get back to work on the Bearhawk. I've been anxious to get going again. I want to get the wings into the jigs within the next couple weeks.
I made the 4 flap drive arms in a little different sequence than outlined in Eric's manual. It looked like it would be difficult to weld the washers on for the spring retainer after the 3/8 tube was welded on so I welded the washer onto the tube first then welded the tube onto the part. After that part was welded I trimmed the arm to size. Then I welded the 7/8" tube on. These are the first pieces that I didn't have to make "practice parts" for so I guess I'm getting the hang of it.
Then I made the 2 root flap drive arms. These are pretty easy but I still managed to screw up. On the first one when I was bending the sides I used the sharp edge of the bending bar and it made a nice crisp corner. I don't know what I was thinking but the corner does not meet the standard radius for the bend so I'm back to making "practice parts". So one turned out good and I'll have to make another one tomorrow.
