Between my work schedule, ice storm and having a bad cold over a period (and a couple days on the CAP 232), I haven't worked on the Bearhawk for a while. I did get some practice in setting rivets and feel pretty good with the feel.
Today I finally got around to riveting the spar caps on the right main spar. In Eric’s manual he mentioned that it takes a burst of about 2-3 seconds to set the # 5 rivets, I found it took about 10 seconds to set the 470AD5-13 rivets on the stack of 4 capstrips. All the others were 3-5 seconds. I'm running pressure at 95 psi so I'm not sure why the difference. Maybe I got a batch of titanium rivets!
After I had set some of the rivets I pulled the masking tape off the heads and found a bunch of smiley faces. I was expecting a few but not this many. I'm back to drilling rivets again and more practice. I got so discouraged I did something I rarely do; I sat down and watched TV mid afternoon. I feel like I've hit a wall.
