Brief Description:  Elevators

Deburred, dimpled, finished edges, primed all internal parts for both elevators. Yada yada yada. During this stuff I'm less motivated to log every move as this gets repetitive. I'll likely be better when I move into different parts. This was done 2 to 4 hours at a crack over the past few nights.

Dimpled the right elevator skin and assembled and riveted the right elevator. Need to roll leading edges but I'll wait untill the left elevator is ready so I do them both at the same time.

I don't really like the way the rudder turned out with the oil canning and am determined not to let this happen with the elevators. I believe it is a a result of rolling riveting the leading edges of the skins. I think there is a stress applied when you rivet the edges together and that tends to bow the skins out a little. That would likely be ok, but that stress is not present where the skin is cut out for the hinges. The combination of the stressed skin and the not so stressed skin is the likely culprit for the oil canning.

I think a better rolling process that brings the skins together without stressing will solve the problem.
