Brief Description:  Fit front cowl on the front of the airplane

With a slot for the nose wheel cut, I started fitting the cowl to the plane. I attached the cowl with masking tape with it fitting properly in on the flange of the fuselage. The cowl was too long and the crank shaft of the engine was off center. I flipped the prop back plate around so that it would fit on the crankshaft with the cowl installed, I then moved the cowl until the prop back plate was centered on the front of the cowl. re-taped to hold and then measured the gap from the bottom of the fuselage flange to the back of the cowl every 5 mm or so all around. I then measured the gap between the front of the cowl and the front of the flipped prop spinner back plate. Using these measurements and the thickness of the spinner back plate when installed correctly (leaving a 10mm gap between the spinner back plate and the cowl). I transferred the measurements to the back of the cowl starting with the bottom of the fuselage flange to the cowl ever 5-10mm around the cowl. I then cut the cowl with a diamond Dremel disk on the line connecting these measurements and sanded smooth and re-installed. It came out pretty close. I then repeated this one more time (now with the spinner back plate on correctly and used my sanding stick to smooth out any place where it didn't follow the contour of the bottom of the fuselage flange. Rounded the edges to prevent gelcoat chipping and remove burrs. Sanded inside of the cowl at all contact points to reduce the chaffing of the gelcoat where the cowls are in contact. Re-installed holding the cowl on with tape for one last check for fit.
