Brief Description:  Firewall -- clearance holes around engine mount tu

Still working on boot cowl alignment. Nothing interesting on the tube, so a little shop time.

Found a couple of minor items, and that I needed to trim the firewall to clear the 5/8" engine mount tubes. With the firewall "pinched" between the engine mount and fuselage it would defect a little. Engine mount tubes should solidly mount to the fuselage, so clearance holes are needed around the tubes.

Took a while, as one hole wasn't centered originally, and needing a little filing to clear the AN6 (3/8") bolt. Clamped a guide in place, and used a step drill. Whew. 5/8" tube just clears all the way around. Lucked out.

Refitted cowling. A little closer to the fit I want. Sneaking up on it by 1/8" at a time. Whew!

I was concerned with what I think is a gap above the hinge, and where the windshield will end up. Quick look at Eric Newton's finishing manual shows the same detail. It is covered up by the windshield front seal where it wraps around.
