Progressed to page two of the manual and began work on the front spar of the horizontal stabilizer. I ran into a big problem tapering the ends of the HS-810 reinforcement angle and HS814 splice angle. There's a lot of material that must be removed to taper the ends. On the HS-810, I marked the taper and started filing with the Vixen. After about 1.5 hours filing, sanding, buffing, filing some more, the piece looks really good. I was getting impatient with the second piece. So, I tried to use the grinding wheel to removed the material. The end of the angle got hung up in the grinder and was mangle beyond repair. I later learned that grinding aluminum is also a dangerous idea because the wheel can disintegrate.Replacement HS-814-1 ordered along with .6 pound of various "oops" rivets.
