Brief Description:  Filtered air box

I spent several nights designing and drawing a custom filterd air box that will easily fit up to and feed the proper amount of air to the Rotec TBI I have on my Lycoming O360. The air box is very similar in design to the Van's air box but it includes minimum specifications as recommednded by Rotec, i.e., a minimum of a 3" tall filter, minimum of 1" of airflow space around the filter including below the filter.
The air box will be all aluminum construction with the exception of the outer shell surrounding the the filter from underneath. The lower shell will be made of fiberglass. I plan on cutting up a foam block to make my form for this. There will be a separate bellmouth that will seal against the inside surface of the lower cowling inlet and will connect to the airbox via a 3" SCAT hose. When taking the cowl off, the bellmouth will be removed form the front of the cowl via screws running through the cowl and into the bellmouth.
