I drilled the top plate after tracing the pattern from the sheet of plastic that I used to make it during a previous build session. This is the third time that I have tried to make the angle of the top plate correct so that the intake of the FAB lines up with the snout of the lower cowling. I have determined that it is impossible, at least for me, to do so without creating a conflict with the rubber top of the filter and the bolt head of the forward port mounting bolt. I will live with it and if necessary remove a small portion of the rubber seal where the bolt head contacts it.
I stopped by Ace hardware on the way home and got two 5/16 nuts, one fine and the other course thread, I used one on the starter contacter stud where I attached the alternator B lead. I will take the other one back when I return other items.
I also bought zip ties with a heat rating of 185F. I read online that the same company produces ties that are rated for higher temps. I will try to find some.
I worked with the routing of the ingition cables from the e/pmags to the spark plugs. I also tried to put #14 adel clamps on the engine mount tube at the top of the engine to route wires. It would not attach. The holes do not line up. Perhaps I need a larger size?
I still need to cut the 2 1/2 hole in the FAB mounting plate. I don't have a punch or hole saw large enough.
