Brief Description:  Mounted engine

Big day today. Got the engine mounted. I decided to try mounting the motor to othe mount without the mount being attached to the fuselage . It really worked well. I used the instructions from VAF, and they were very good.

A couple of things I did to prepare was to modify a 5/8" wrench to allow better access to the nuts. I also super glued the large washers to the donuts for the bottom two mounts. They need to be between the donuts and the engine on the bottom, and since I was working alone I didn't want to have to worry about them moving around as I was jockying the mount around to fit.

The first three went in fairly easy, but the last one on the bottom right was most difficult. I used a drift pin to line up the hole, then used a large clamp to move the mount. I also used a long screwdriver to gently persuade the rubber mount, and the bolt slipped right in.

The process took me 45 minutes. It actually took about that long again to torque the bolts and add the cotter pins. That was a real pain...
