Brief Description: Skinning the Horizontal Stabilizer
Well, after talking to my tech about the horizontal stabilizer skin mistake, He suggested that I install a 30mm srtip of .016 6061-T6 on the short end to provide adequate overlap and still give me the 20 mm need to attach the fiberglass tips. I decided to take his advice and cancelled the replacement skin order with ZAC and began working on the horizontal stab once more. I made to two 'L' shaped cutouts in the skin for the front attachment angles to protrude through. Then I deburred all the holes and applied Cortex to the inside of the stab. skin. Then I clecoed and riveted the bottom of the the skin to the framework leaving room to install the 30mm extension on the end. Next I flipped the assembly over and used straps and 1X2s to gently pull the top skin around and into place so that I could mark the spar and rib locations on the skin. Using a template I created to mark the location and rivet pitch, I marked and predrilled the rivet locations through the topside of the skin.
