Brief Description: Completing the leading edge of the rudder
Completed the rudder trailing edge: Rolled both skins with sticks of two different sizes. Our resident "tech counsellor" (thanks, Christoph) helped us tremendously with the process. Started with a large diameter stick and curved all three parts of the skin. Then switched to rolling each of the three sections separately, with a smaller diameter stick and then progressing to hand-bending the rest (with the smaller stick pressed against the bottom to prevent a sharp bend of the skin at the spar flange). Edge-rolled the outside skin and repeated the process for the other side. Switched back and forth between both sides for final adjustments.. Matchdrilled to #30, deburred (the inside with a "scotchbrite-on-a-stick") and set the rivets.
The result worked out fine, we are especially happy with the way the upper skin sits flush atop the lower skin.
