Today I made the elevator root assembly and placed and drilled out the ribs on the elevator. I had a bear of a time up-drilling the elevator horn weld assembly. This piece is steel and I think I work-hardened the metal by trying to drill this too fast. I ended up using the drill press at a slower speed to get this up-drilled.
I also got the elevator center and end ribs marked and drilled to #40. Tomorrow I will work on getting the elevators aligned with the stabilizer. I purchased a 78" long level to use as a straight edge. Hopefully this will make the alignment process easier.
Using the rivet fan as a drill guide to get the holes straight and evenly spaced.
