I finished making the main spar assembly for the vertical stabilizer today. Everything went OK mostly except for a few problems. The AN bolts that were called for are a little too long so I had to add an extra washer to most of the bolts to allow for proper engagement of the bolt threads.
The other issue was that the pneumatic Harbor Freight riveter cracked on the handle and started spilling out hydraulic fluid all over the place. I was using 45-50 PSI, so the pressure wasn't too high. There must have been a flaw in the casting that weakened the side wall of the handle of the riveter. I have not used this riveter much but it had been working fine. I guess I'll have to replace this with a pricier, better quality riveter.
I had to add a washer on each bolt to allow for proper gripping of threads on the bolts.
