Brief Description:  Fabirc on boot cowl, trial fit cowl and glare shie

I did some final fitting of the boot cowl to the fuselage. In my earlier work I did not cut off the fibreglass lip on the cowl just forward of the door-frame. This made the cowl very difficult to get into place. I could not/did not see the scribe lines that were supposed to be on the cowl indicating that this material should be cut away. I have check some of my photos and do not see the scribe lines, but certainly wish I had as having that material removed makes positioning an removing the boot cowl much, much easier.

Seeing Bill Lind's plane clued me in to remove this material.

Once the fitting was finished, I enlisted Susie to assist in lining the inside of the boot cowl with the Sunbrella fabric, Again, we used 3M spray adhesive to affix the material to the cowl. This work is not difficult, but requires care as you cannot reposition the fabric once it is in place. The material provides a nice finish and should be very durable (Sunbrella material is made to use on outdoor awnings and is supposed to be quite fade and sun-damage resistance.

We next positioned the boot cowl and the glare shield to check for fit.
