Brief Description:  Torque tube- first fitting

Today I did the set-up of the torque tube in the fuselage. The torque tube has three supports or "pillow-blocks". On at the front and rear ends, and one just aft of the front seat. The pillow blocks came powder-coated which caused a lot of friction and fit interference. I sanded away the powder coating then started to polish the bearing surface of the pillow blocks using emory cloth.

The pillow blocks and two collars slide onto the tube which is then set into place. The front pillow block attaches to a pre-welded.drilled tab. The rear pillow block has to be located, clamped then holes match-drilled through the base and a support member. The middle pillow block also has to be located then holes match-drilled.

Today's work is continue in the next entry to allow more photos to be included
