Brief Description:  Rigging Ailerons, elevator etc

Today I had Tom Aberle come over to apply his skills to fine-tuning the rigging of the ailerons, horizontal and vertical stabilizers, and elevators. Tom is a long-time A&P/IA, experimental airplane builder/mechanic/supporter, and last week again took the gold cup as the Reno National Air Racing Champion in the biplane class with is plane "Phantom".

I had everything installed and somewhat adjusted, but was not happy with the travel limits of the ailerons. Tom checked everything out, confirmed that I had the bellcranks appropriately set, then did some adjusting of the cables and turnbuckles to bring the rigging right to spec. It is nice to watch a master at work, and to have confirmation that a critical component of the airplanes operating systems is in specification.

Tom did the same to the tail surfaces. Everything adjusted into proper position right to the tollerances called out in the builders manual.
