Brief Description: Install center ribs, start windshield install
Today I continued fitting and preparing the center section ribs for installation. As I am using an after-market acrylic windshield instead of the stock Lexan material I wanted to pre-fit the windshield before the final installation of the ribs. This turned out to be a good plan as the acrylic windshield fits somewhat differently than the Lexan sheet material.
I am using an Aero Plastics windshield made from Wayne Norris' design/mold. RANS now has a proprietary windshield made by Aero Plastics from a RANS owned/designed mold, and the older model may no longer be available. I chose to use a light-blue tinted windshield. This material is the standard used on most helicopters. The skylite will be made of the stock Lexan material (clear). At some point I may change out the skylite to a tinted material, but at this point in the project I am not interested in making any additional changes or modifications that would delay completion.
