The VHF antenna is mounted on the bottom of the fuselage about mid-way between the cockpit and the tail feathers. The antenna is mounted to a RANS supplied mounting plate accessed through an access hole. I am using a Comant bent-whip style antenna.
I have the coaxial cable and the BNC fitting for the antenna lead. I laid out the cable run from the radio to the antenna and marked the cable. Tom Aberle (local A&P/IA/Reno Champion/Homebuilder Advisor) has the appropriate crimping tool for the BNC fittings.
