I am using an Ameriking 406 ELT. The RANS S-7 has an ELT mount of sorts installed in the fuselage, but there is very limited access to the mounting tabs, and it appears that it would be very difficult to use them. Also, accessing the ELT for maintenance would be tough.
I also considered the W&B of the plane and wanted to move the ELT slightly forward, which would also improve accessibility. I decided to mount the ELT just to the left and below the rear seat. The stock floorboards end ahead of the seat. As I mentioned earlier, I have some Baltic birch plywood that matches the RANS supplied floorboards, so I am using that to entend the floor board on the left side to accomodate the ELT.
I fitted the floorboard extension, then installed a reinforcing plate on the bottom to improve the strength of the ELT mounting.
