Keith came over and identified several areas to provide shims to better align the pillow blocks. Using paper as shim stock, we shimmed both the front and middle pillow blocks as they were not in vertical alignment. This significantly reduced the friction. We installed both the front and rear control sticks. The entire assembly rotated freely, but will not quite flop over to the side un-aided.
Both sticks moved freely fore and aft once installed. I added the linkage tube between the two sticks, then the linkage from the rear stick to the aileron push-pull tube. The entire assembly now moves freely, rotates freely and is nice and smooth with no apparent rough spots.
I have a lot of other photos, but the three attached show the bulk of the installation.
