Brief Description: Fitting the pillow block and torque tube
I spent 4 hours trial fitting the torque assembly, and working to reduce the friction created by the pillow blocks. This was tedious at best. The three frame members that the pillow block are mounted to are not perfectly aligned or perfectly parallel. The result is that the pillow block bind significantly when their mounting bolts are tightened. At the first installation, the torque tube would barely rotate at all (it is supposed to move freely)
I isolated one pillow block at a time at first and sanded, filed, polished, shimmed them until the tube rotated freely. Once they three were individually done, I started trying to balance everything with all three in place. The manual only briefly mentions this, and does not give enough explanation at all. After 4 hours I retired for the day.
