Brief Description:  Sliding Canopy

For the last three days I was trying to figure out how I will separate the windscreen from the canopy. I sure don't want to crack this baby now. I decided to use a 3/16"-5/16" edge distance from the front bow of the canopy in case I have to make a few adjustments at a later date. This seems to be OK with VAN's. I am using fiber starp tapes to keep the canopy in the same dimension as on the fuselage. This way I was able to lay the canopy with the frame clamped in on some saw horses right side up. Made it a whole lot easier to mark the cut line to separate the windscreen and the canopy. I made a small tool from aluminum scrap to measure the 5/15" distance from the front bow of the canopy. Marked the line under the canopy and then transferred it to the top. Worked out pretty good. Since the whole assembly was on saw horses, it was pretty easy to go under the canopy to mark the cut line. Tomorrow is cutting time and no clamps while cutting.
