I decided to attach the cowling with camlocks insted of the hinges suggested by VAN's. I made two camlock fastener strips for the bottom of the firewall. I layed out this strip so there is a fastener every 3.5 inches. Clamped the fastener strips to the two bottom side of the firewall and match drilled the rivet holes. Deburred and counter sunk the rivet holes. Primed the strips and painted them . Temporarily installed the strips with clecos on the firewall. 4 camlock receptacles will be installed on each side, centered on the tabs.
