Bob Eggleston came over to my hangar with his portable radio to test my SL30 nav/com unit. I tested the audio portion of the unit A-OK, but could not test the mic because of the hangar’s metal frame blocked the transmission from the unit. Unfortunately, the pilot side of the mic jack would not work. The problem was that I used slide on connector and the jack works better if the wires are soldered on. I took apart the pilot side mic jack and soldered on the three wires. Very time consuming job.
