Now that the wires are soldered on the connector and insulated from each other with shrink tubing, I applied RTV sealant to the inside of the outer covers (half) to seal the back of the jack, the solder joints and where the wire enters the outer housing. In other to keep everything together while the silicone dries I clamped the two half together lightly.
