Brief Description:  Install ACK E-04 ELT (RCPI & Audio Alert Ind.)

Installing the wire connector on the pins gave me a problem. It was necessary to use heat shrink tubes over the wire connectors for insulating the open wires from each other. At the same time I had to solder the wire connectors to the pins. The heat generated by the solder gun would shrink the heat shrink tubes before I could move them over the solder joint. Copying a fellow builder, I simply put the heat shrink tube over the pin/connector joint, hoping that it will stay in place. That didn’t last too long, the connectors came off the pins, the pressure exerted by the heat shrink was not enough . In frustration I decided to take off the length of the pins from the heat shrink to expose that much of the pin/connector joint. I soldered the connector/pin joint. Before soldering I placed a short heat shrink tube behind the solder joint and slid it over the joint after soldering. I was able to move these short shrink tubes far enough where they were not affected by the heat gun. I also place a metal clip on them to keep them cool. All this trial and error effort took me two days. All this for a mini DIN connector.
