Brief Description: Plan installation of ACK E-04 ELT
I spent considerable time planning the installation of the ACK ELT package. The first decision to be made was the location of the Remote Control Panel Indicator (RCPI) and the Audio Alert Indicator. Because these two units have to be relatively close together and because they contain batteries and magnetic material, I had to pick a location a distance from the magnetic compass. Unfortunately, the best spot would be where I planned to install the map box. So I made the hard choice and will put these devices where the Map Box would have gone. So, no Map Box at least for now. I will make a cover plate to go over the cutout for the Map Box and mount the ELT display and alert indicator on this plate. For now I am planning to place the E-04 ELT just before or behind the back cover for the luggage compartment to provide the shortest cable for the antenna.
