Brief Description: Ship Nose gear leg for modification
Made a box for the gear leg. Cut out a 10"x44" 3/4" thick plywood for the base of the box. Next I made the sides from 2X2 inch lumber and fastened these on the plywood with wood screws. I used 0.041 safety wire to fasten the gear leg to the plywood. To do this I drilled two small holes into the plywood for each safety wire location on each side of the gear leg. Did this 5 times, which seemed to be adaquate to secure the gear leg to the plywood. Lined the gear leg at each safety wire location with PVC "Pipe Wrap Tape" (Home Depot) and some small cell bubble wrap. After the gear leg was secure in the box I included the return address information and closed the box using 3/8" plywood. The entire package was 20.7 pounds. Shipped by UPS to Langair.
