The heater installation has consumed a hugh number of hours because it plans do not match the actual installation. The plans for the kickplate tell us to make it fit your preference without mention of any heater installation requirements. When trying to install the heater, there was not enough room for the core inlets to rotate undrer the kickplate and remain clear of the pedals. I installed and remove the kickplate a dozen times cutting it down hoping it would help.
I believe if I changed the heater core plumbing, it would work better. However, while drilling the inlet hole, the bit hit the core causing a leak. I went to Auto Zone and picked out another heater with the same core size but with straight pipes coming out the bottom. It solved the problem.
All I had to do was relocate the supporting bracket, and all is well.
