In order to complete work on fuel hoses, control rods, cable routes, I thought it best to put the rotor head together.
First I began work on the bendix gear for the pre-rotator. The drawing state :STOCK BENDIX MUST BE MODIFIED BY DISASSEMBLY: REMOVE BALL BEARING DETENTS AND PINION GEAR BUSHING. THESE MODIFICATIONS SHOULD BE DONE BY THE FACTORY PRIOR TO SHIPMENT.
I do not understand what ball bearing detents look like or how to get rid of them and my bendix has the pinon gear bushing. I placed the pinon gear on my vise began the removal of the bushing. However, the washer underneath the gear broke. I will need to order another one.
Next I installed the SPRING ATTACHMENT BAR without any trouble. Same with the adjustment block. However the adjustment bolt was missing.
The drawing also mentions DO NOT SUBSTITUTE BEARING (NSK 6202-10RSC3) WITHOUT ENGINEERING APPROVAL. However, the bearings I have are different. I 'll have to ask GBA if they are ok to use.
I worked on the brackets for the rotor brake and attached it to the head. I painted the lower bracket and routed the cable out the tunnerl.
I also routed the cable for the pre-rotator out of the cabin and glue a grommet into position.
